Notes to self, discoveries, humor, recommendations, etc..
Today I signed up for an ersatz domain name through
http://dot.tk
Apparently folks with websites with long urls (free hosts or blog hosts) can register for free a domain name ending in .tk
So instead of
http://free-web-host.com/freepages/johnp/blog.html,
you could use
http://johnp.tk
or similar.
Seems that .tk is not an official domain suffix, and I'm wondering how they are pulling this off.
Anyway, a curious / vagely useful website that I ran across.
Comments:
Noting that after being redirected to website, address bar maintains .tk address. I guess they are using URL rewriting to do all this.
